Autumn Makeup Trends

1. Berry lips

The new season grown-up tailoring requires ladylike makeup to match. Autumn ’08 sees the lipstain take over from full-on colour and liner.

  • Keep your base almost bare-looking, with a small amount of peachy blusher on the apples of your cheeks for warmth.
  • Use a taupe powder with a slight sheen for the eyelids.
  • Tap a berry stain onto the lips with your fingers, not a brush. Keep the colour slightly darker in the centre of your lips.
  • Team with dark or metallic eyes for a dramatic night-time look.
  • Finish with blood-red or berry nail varnish.

2. Golden girl

No longer a stock summer look, metallic gold has shifted into autumn as the perfect foil to the season’s jewel tones and lace.

  • Choose a palette of golden tones so your face shimmers.
  • Try a bronze or rust shadow and highlight with a gold liner along the lashes, kicking out at the end.
  • Balance with a soft coral blusher and brown mascara to soften the look.
  • Keep lips subtle – fudge or toffee-coloured lipgloss is perfect.
  •

    3. Chic goth

With summer’s bright colours and girly shapes moving aside for gothic trims and black in abundance, it makes sense that dark eyes and liner are one of the season’s biggest makeup trends.

    • The trick is to blend, blend, blend. Start with a light grey right up to the browbone. Blend a darker shade into the eye socket and sweep black across the lid
    • Try a liquid liner along the lashes to create a sharp, thick line.
    • Pencil liner is great if you want a smudged effect. You can use pencil on the inner rim of your eyes to really make them pop.
    • Finish with lashing of black mascara.
    • You can soften the overall effect with a hint of candy blusher and subtle pink lipstick.

    4. Seventies edge

The wide eyes, nude lips and flowing hair of the seventies style icons are set for a revival in autumn. The look is subtly sexy rather than full-on glam rock, and works well for daytime.

    • Use a cool grey or pale brown over the eyes.
    • Apply a white eyeliner in the rims of your eyes to make them appear wider.
    • Add a touch of colour with a little highlighter over your cheek and brow bones.
    • Warm up the skin with a little bronzing powder over the forehead, nose and chin. Add contour by dusting under the cheekbones.
    • Balance with a caramel or rose pink lipstick.

oo i love the berry lips and the seventies’ edge.

i think i won’t look too good in berry lips though in that i think it’ll make me look too aged and old! im only 18 so i guess that style isn’t quite suitable for me yet lol

as for the seventies edge, i absolutely love the flowy hair–i just wish i knew how to recreate it!
