a little bit of bronzer never hurt anyone

Hi Friends!
Sorry it’s been awhile since I last posted – this is my first post in the new year [a little late, I know]. Hoping 2011 brings great things, in your world & mine!

Here’s a simple, yet lively look I did the other day. I put a horrible before pic up – yikes, but you won’t be able to know how well the makeup covered unless I did, right?

==========================================================

1) BEFORE [right after I got out of the shower, I always get red spots]

2) Moisturized with Cerave face lotion, then all over coverage with Pur Minerals in Medium & Tan mixed

3) EYES : MAC “Painterly” paint pot all over lid, Sephora brown duo eyeshadow on lash line,  “Maxigrade” black tube mascara from Japan, & Maybelline “Define a Brow” in dark brown to fill in brows

4) CHEEKS : NARS “Sin” blush, E.L.F. bronzed bronzer, & Canmake highlighter

5) LIPS : Sephora lipliner in “Native Nude” w/ MAC lipglass in “Nymphette” on top

I’m wearing this look right now – it took me literally 5 minutes. This is what I wear (with different variations of foundation, blush, and lipgloss) when I’m in a rush…

1) Aromaleigh glissade mineral foundation (3CL) – all over face (focusing on areas that need covering)

2) e.l.f. eyebrow kit (light) – fill in brows, curl lashes

3) Smashbox double-ended eye brightener – highlight underneath brow

4) Clinique blush (Breathless Berry) – apply on apple of cheeks

5) Covergirl Wetslicks Amazement (Freedom of Peach) – on lips

wow

I mixed 3 OCC lip tars to create this pink color – a hot pink “Anime”, white “Feathered”, and beige “Petty Beige.” I love focusing on one part of my face and making that the WOW factor. Although this isn’t so much a WOW, but the lips do stand out from the rest of my face. For some reason, I really love the nude eye look – just curled lashes and mascara and I find myself coming to it often.

New Fall Blush Tip

Posted in blush, great tips!, tofd (tip of the day) by tokyostargirl on September 10, 2009

I LOVE how there are just sooooo many ways to work with blush! Just read this tip from Glamour today and heck yeah – this is what I do some days already! It really does give you rosy hue – try it – you’ll like it. =) Though I still blush up to my temples some days as well. =)

You may have heard that everything ’80s is back this fall. The one old-school trend that isn’t ready for a comeback? Thick too-bright blush. If you’re still doing the sweep the blush up to your temples thing, here’s a quick 3.0 blush lesson. The new way to wear blush is more of a soft flush that starts at the apples, sweeps down across the lower part of your cheeks and is subtly blended so that it looks like your own rosy hue. To get the kind of natural-looking glow Beverly Hills 90210 star Shenae Grimes always seems to have, I find it easiest to use a cream blush, applying it right on top of your cheeks with your fingers and blending down and out to the side. (Try Nars Cream Blush Cheek Color in Penny Lane, a celeb makeup artist favorite.) Next, dab a little on your temples and then dab some more onto your eyelids–from the inside of the crease to just above the crease–to pull the blush color into the rest of your makeup look. It’s like a quickie makeover, with just one product!

A great dupe for the Nars cream blushes are the cream blushes from NYX. I have so many and they have yet to disappoint me. I also just started using the Revlon one and the consistency is great as well.
